Uniworld has announced that the River Royale is set to be going out of service this month, to be transformed into S.S. Bon Voyage as Uniworld’s sixth super ship.
New Uniworld ship for spring 2019
The extensive transformation will be undertaken from October 2018, to be unveiled as S.S. Bon Voyage on the 14th April 2019. She will then sail along the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, exploring the sublime food and wine regions of Bordeaux.
Bon Voyage is the second ship to be upgraded in this way in the Uniworld fleet, with S.S. Beatrice being the first which joined in April 2018.
Ellen Bettridge, President of Uniworld, has said that food and beverage are ‘a consistently high priority for the line’, and that it is at the forefront of the ship’s re-imagination.
On-board Bon Voyage there will be two new dining venues including a causal dining restaurant which will serve light bites inspired by local regions. This space will change in the evenings when it will become an alternative bar used for immersive culinary experiences.
Uniworld will also add four new luxury suites and increase the staff-to-guest ratio from 128 passengers to 124. Other improvements include upgraded bathrooms from tile to marble; transformation of the gym and spa; newly imagined top deck with a new pool, lounge and banquette seating to enhance the space.
Bettridge continued:
“Luxury is never static, but an evolving concept that considers not only the aesthetic, but also the way service is delivered. For example, there was a time not so long ago, when one would never dream of bringing the chef front of house to cook with guests, but today, immersion is part of the luxury experience.”
We can’t wait to see what S.S. Bon Voyage has in-store! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates about what she will look like on-board in April 2019.
