The award-winning Viking Legend is a sleek, contemporary ship that launched in 2009 to sail on the River Danube. With a maximum passenger capacity of 189 guests, the ship sails smoothly through the waters thanks to its hybrid diesel engines, which not only reduce vibrations and noise but also have fewer emissions.
Equipped with plenty of features to ensure guest comfort and entertainment, the Viking Legend is a wonderful example of contemporary design. Travelling between Passau and Budapest on itineraries lasting eight days, passengers can look forward to exploring capital cities, notable landmarks, sites of historic significance and some of the most beautiful scenery the continent has to offer.
The Viking Legend is one of the rare river cruise ships that have staterooms designed for single passengers. These Single Staterooms have a sofa bed and a French Balcony, giving a cosy space to enjoy the passing scenery. Standard Staterooms are a bit larger with beds available as a double or as twin singles, with a picture window. French Balcony Staterooms offer better views with sliding doors, while Suites have separate living rooms with a sofa, and two French balconies.
There are a number of standard features across all of the staterooms which ensure a relaxing time for all who travel. Every room has a flat-screen Sony television with news and movies in English (Suites have two televisions). Air-conditioning is another standard feature along with a telephone and a safe. Bottled water is provided for all guests, and every day a fresh supply is placed in your room.
Guests will be amazed by the quality of dining offered on the Viking Legend. Even at breakfast the selection of foods will delight. Alongside teas and coffees, guests can look forward to hot egg dishes, cold meats, cereals, pastries, fruits and cheeses, and fresh juices. At lunch, opt for a light sandwich or a homemade soup prepared daily, or choose from an entrée menu with desserts.
When it comes to dinner, Viking River Cruises go all out with luxurious five-course gourmet offerings. Expect influences from the local area in terms of whole dishes and just the ingredients used on every night, with regional wines carefully chosen to complement the food. The restaurant itself has open seating ensuring a relaxed atmosphere, despite the incredible quality of the menu that you’ll be served.
Wi-Fi access is available across the whole ship with no charge. The ship has a Sun Deck, with a covered seating, or if the weather isn’t great you can still enjoy the views in the Observation Lounge which has a bar and panoramic views. There is a boutique and a library on-board.
