Viking River Cruises are the small ship experts. Their innovative, award-winning Viking Longships have all the amenities for a fine hotel. Their small size allows them to sail into the heart of destinations, where you’ll find everything is just a short walk from your ship.

Every stateroom is outside-facing and features large picture windows, meaning that you’ll a constantly changing backdrop and some spectacular views throughout your river cruise. Whichever stateroom you choose, you’ll enjoy a hotel-style bed topped with European linens and duvets, a bathroom with a heated floor and premium Freyja bath products.

Dining is an important part of a Viking River Cruise. The highly-trained chefs offer a destination-focused menu filled with authentic regional dishes using locally-sourced ingredients. You’ll enjoy a range of indoor and al-fresco dining areas with an open seating policy, meaning you’re free to sit wherever you like. And with many excursions offering authentic, first-hand experiences such as sampling the local cuisine, wine-tasting and traditional music, you’ll feel like you’ve truly experienced what life is like in the places which you visit.

On-board activities

On-board your ship you’ll enjoy a Cultural Curriculum – an exclusive programme to help you learn about and enjoy the history of the places you visit. It features lectures on art and history, tasting sessions with local wines, informative talks about each port and musicians performing regional and classical music. You’ll also find a library stocked with books to enjoy.

Exclusive to adults

As of bookings made from August 2018, Viking River Cruises offers its sailings to those over 18 only. This is due to the cruise line offering little to no facilities for young children and maintaining a luxury cruising getaway for like-minded travellers and adults to enjoy.

Whichever stateroom you choose, you’ll enjoy a hotel-style bed topped with European linens and duvets, a bathroom with a heated floor and premium Freyja bath products. There’s also a 40-inch flat-screen TV with complimentary movies on-demand, fridge, safe, hair dryer, bathrobes and slippers. You’ll also enjoy the services of a stateroom steward as well as twice-daily housekeeping.

For those looking to enjoy the utmost in luxury, the suites on Viking’s Longships are second-to-none. Featuring two full-sized rooms, they’re the largest suites you’ll find on any river cruise ship and offer outstanding river views. 

Dining

Venues include The Restaurant which serves sumptuous buffets for breakfast, soups and salads for lunch and multicourse dining in the evenings. The Aquavit Terrace is a more casual affair, offering al fresco dining as you sail past some of Europe's stunning destinations. You can also dine on the Sun Deck for a light meal in the sunshine or under the shade of an umbrella. Viking’s open seating policy means that you’re free to sit wherever you like.

Cultural Enrichment

On-board your ship you’ll enjoy a cultural enrichment programme designed to help you learn about and enjoy the history and culture of the places you visit. It features guest lectures on art, architecture, music, geopolitics and history, as well as tasting sessions with local wines, informative talks about each port and musicians performing regional and classical music. 

You’ll enjoy cookery demonstrations which present recipes for regional delights and craft demonstrations which reveal the techniques of local artisans such as lace making, silk screen printing and wooden shoemaking.
