We already know that Paris is one of the most cultured cities in the whole of Europe, if not the world. And as such you could reasonably expect it to play host to some great festivals over the course of the year. Here I’ve picked out four of my favourites that you could experience as part of a Seine river cruise, along with a bonus one that I just wanted to highlight.
Seine River Cruise festivals
The Night of Museums
If you’re lucky then you might find your Seine river cruise falls on the same dates as this unique event, one that I personally would love to try. For one night a year, a whole host of museums in Paris open their doors to guests for free for the evening, usually between the hours of 6pm and midnight.
I think exploring a museum at night would definitely have a certain charm about it, and depending on the exhibits and almost-creepy atmosphere, which would make it all the more fun. Art museums, history museums and others that are more specialist take part in this event held in May, so keep an eye out.
Fete de la Musique
Most river cruises, including Seine river cruises, tend to have quite a sedate pace around them. So if you want to step it up, head to Paris during the month of June for the summer solstice and you’ll see the city truly come to life.
I’m talking street parties, live music, strangers making friends and more, as the whole city parties to celebrate everything good that life brings. It’s a vibrant and exciting night and one to experience first-hand, without a doubt.
Paris Jazz Festival
Jazz music and Paris are, in my mind, an eternally winning combination. Every weekend in July you’ll be able to head to the Parc Floral and, for a paltry five euros, enjoy live jazz musicians for the afternoon in a beautiful setting.
That’s every Saturday and Sunday in July, so book a Seine river cruise in this month and you’re likely to have the chance to enjoy this event. I don’t think there are many that offer such good value either, so it’s one to keep in mind.
Festival Paris Banlieues Tango
This is an annual event in November, when the season to enjoy a Seine river cruise is drawing to a close, so you might need to get lucky if you want to attend. But if you can it’s definitely worth it, as tango takes over the city.
Live performances by professional dancers are the main attraction, but you can also attend workshops and dance classes to master the art yourself. A wonderful thing to try when you’ve an afternoon in the city.
Circus of Tomorrow Fair
Now this is the one that runs in January, and as such you probably won’t be able to experience is as part of a Seine river cruise, which are generally only available between March and November. But I wanted to mention it anyway because it’s such a unique event.
Circus performers from all over the world attend this festival, which is essentially a huge audition. It’s here where circuses can find an audience, and performers can find a circus. You’re sure to experience thrills and excitement unlike anything else if you get yourself here for a city break.
