Set sail along the Rhine for glorious sunshine in the crisp air or witness Portugal's river Douro and its vineyards turn from green to gold as the season takes hold of the foliage and its surroundings.

 

Autumn is a great time to head to Europe as the crowds calm down and cities are quieter, but you can still enjoy the last few weeks of the sunshine. Later in Autumn, as November comes around, Christmas Markets begin to open across the Danube and the Rhine. These are excellent places to visit during your river cruise and welcomes the festive season as Autumn comes to an end.
